New hire for comms agency One Plus One
Esther Robinson
Communications agency One Plus One has expanded into Wellington with the appointment of Esther Robinson as director of government relations.
The agency described the role as a "strategic milestone", and said it was due to a growing demand for services in the capital. By establishing a formal Wellington presence, it aimed to provide clients with greater connection to the parliamentary precinct and high-level strategic counsel on regulatory and public policy matters.
Robinson has more than a decade of experience in government relations and public affairs across politics, communications, and corporate advisory roles.
She was previously with communications agency Acumen, and was a senior political advisor during the Sixth and Fifth Labour Governments. In her own time, she co-hosts the 3 Gals 1 Beehive podcast, anchored by former Beehive staffers.
One Plus One managing director Kelly Bennett said the appointment was a "significant step forward" for the agency. "Our clients are increasingly operating in environments shaped by policy. Having senior, Wellington-based expertise allows us to contribute and operate more effectively where decisions are made.”
In her new role, Robinson will establish and lead the dedicated government relations practice, working across new and existing clients spanning professional services, finance, technology and other sectors.
Robinson said the opportunity to build a government relations offering within an independent, ambitious agency was compelling. “I'm excited to get stuck in helping One Plus One's great clients achieve big things in the year ahead."
