Dual-listed insurer Tower has appointed Simon Hoole as interim chief financial officer while it continues to look for a permanent CFO.
Its current interim CFO, Angus Shelton, is going on planned extended leave from May, and Hoole will take over the role from that date.
The appointments follow a reshuffle at the top of Tower prompted by the departure of chief executive Blair Turnbull last year. Paul Johnston, who was previously CFO, has since stepped into that role.
Tower said Hoole was an experienced finance executive with deep expertise in the insurance and financial services sectors, strong regulatory and governance experience, and extensive experience in large-scale transformation.
He most recently served as group finance director at Datacom, including a period as interim CFO, where he led all financial functions for the technology business.
He has previously held CFO roles at Villa Maria Estate and Resolution Life (formerly AMP Life Australia and New Zealand) and earlier held senior finance positions within the AMP Group, including CFO of AMP New Zealand.
Tower chief executive Paul Johnston welcomed Hoole to Tower and acknowledged Shelton for his leadership and contribution in his roles as interim CFO and previously deputy CFO.
“Angus has supported Tower through a period of significant change, contributing to the company’s progress and helping to position the business strongly for the future,” he said.
