A new entity being established to oversee one of New Zealand’s first retirement villages will be chaired by Raewyn Lovett ONZM.
The Selwyn Foundation, which oversees Selwyn Village in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chevalier, announced the appointment today.
Lovett is currently chair of CHT Healthcare Trust and has been on the board since 2013. She also chairs Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa and High Performance Sport New Zealand Limited, and is co-chair of the International Working Group on Women and Sport.
She also specialises in commercial, corporate and property law at national law firm Duncan Cotterill.
Selwyn Foundation chair David Cunliffe said Lovett was a highly respected and experienced leader who brought deep sector knowledge and a strong values alignment to Selwyn.
“As we strengthen our structure to meet the changing needs of older New Zealanders, Raewyn’s leadership will ensure Selwyn Village remains a place of manaaki, purpose and belonging,” he said.
Lovett said the organisation closely reflected her own values. “My hope is to help ensure Selwyn Village remains a special place – supporting today’s and tomorrow’s residents to live their best lives,” she said.
The appointment follows a governance review by the Selwyn Foundation board.
Selwyn Village Limited will take on full operational responsibility for the village from July 1. Jason More, who was formerly chief operating officer of the Selwyn Foundation, will become chief executive of the new entity.
