Former Three boss Juliet Peterson is taking up a new role at Sky New Zealand as chief business officer.
Sky bought Three from Warner Bros Discovery for $1 earlier this month and is now calling the business Sky Free. Peterson was previously Head of Networks (Australia and New Zealand) for Three.
In her new role, she will be responsible for Sky’s advertising revenue and B2B activities, including the Sky Free channels and services, Sky Sales, and the Sky Business team. She would be a key member of the executive team, Sky said in a statement.
Sky chief executive Sophie Moloney said Peterson’s many years of experience in the New Zealand free-to-air market were “highly valuable” for Sky as it aimed to maximise the potential of its new Sky Free business.
“As we have noted previously, Sky and Sky Free are operating as standalone businesses while we work through a careful integration programme. As well as continuing to lead all aspects of the Sky Free business during this time, Juliet will provide leadership across our advertising and B2B teams on both sides of the business from September 1, 2025.”
Peterson described the Sky purchase of Three as “an incredible opportunity … to help businesses across Aotearoa connect even more strongly with their customers”.
“I feel very privileged to have the chance to deliver to the potential of this growth area. I’m a true believer in the power of creating and curating local television platforms that deliver what New Zealand viewers want to watch, and can’t wait to build on the legacy of Three and the broader Sky Free business.”
