Former Smart chief executive Anna Scott has been revealed as the new CEO of Mercer New Zealand.
NZX announced yesterday that Scott had quit as head of its funds management business after two years in the role. She will join rival financial services group Mercer on October 1.
Scott replaces Martin Lewington, who led investment company Mercer for 16 years.
Mercer, owned by global investment firm Marsh McLennan, said today she would be responsible for leading Mercer’s operations across New Zealand.
As part of her role, she would be working closely with local and regional teams to further develop Mercer’s capabilities in superannuation, health and benefits, workforce solutions and investment services.
Marsh McLennan’s New Zealand CEO, Toni Ferrier, said Scott had the right breadth of experience for the role. During her career, she had demonstrated a capacity to identify business opportunities and align strategy with customer outcomes.
“Through her deep understanding of our market, combined with her international experience, she will draw on the best of Mercer’s global expertise and capabilities to serve the needs of clients and members and deliver business growth.”
Scott joined NZX in September 2023, having previously held roles at Hobson Wealth and JPMorgan. During her tenure at NZX, its funds management business was rebranded from Smartshares to Smart.
Scott will be based in Auckland and will report to Ferrier.
