Transpower today announced the appointment of Greg Smith as its new chief financial officer.
Smith was Reserve Bank of New Zealand's assistant governor and general manager of finance and commercial operations until May this year.
His extensive career in finance includes time as CFO of Steel & Tube Holdings, CFO at Wellington Electricity, group financial controller of Opus International and senior audit manager at KPMG in New Zealand, the UK and the US.
Chief executive James Kilty said, “I’m pleased to appoint someone of Greg’s calibre, with strong commercial and financial experience across a range of private, government and regulated businesses, including in the electricity sector. Greg brings a proven track record of strategic insight and delivering strong commercial results. We look forward to him joining our executive leadership team.”
Smith takes up his new role on February 9.
