Political consultant Wayne Eagleson is to rejoin the board of Wellington Airport.

Eagleson left the board at the end of June, after six years as an independent director appointed by Wellington City Council.

Wellington City Council replaced him with another director, Rachel Taulelei, from July 1. He will rejoin the board from today to replace another outgoing director, Phil Walker, this time as a representative of major investor Infratil.

In a statement, Wellington Airport thanked Walker for his "excellent and long-standing contribution" to the airport. Walker had been a member of the board since 2016.

Infratil, which owns 66% of the airport, appoints four directors to the board. Wellington City Council, which owns the remaining 34%, appoints two, including Mayor Tory Whanau.
