Award-winning architecture and masterplanning practice Construkt has been on the recruitment path again. It has hired two new staff, bringing the practice’s headcount to 23, up from 13 at the same time last year.
Construkt director David Gibbs says the practice is responding to heightened demand in the residential sector, which is particularly strong in the Auckland market thanks to the Unitary Plan and Special Housing Areas initiatives. Indeed, Statistics New Zealand reported that the value of Auckland residential building work in the March quarter topped $1 billion for the first time.
“The Construkt team has capabilities spanning masterplanning, urban design and architecture, with particular expertise in the medium residential market; we’re well qualified to help address Auckland’s housing shortage,” says Mr Gibbs.

Architectural Graduate Francois Breedt holds a BArch (Hons) in Architecture from Victoria University, Wellington. He has over five years of professional experience in a range of residential, commercial, industrial and exhibition projects in New Zealand. Drawing inspiration from a range of disciplines, Francois is passionate about creating architecture and highly crafted spaces that embody both the aspirations of the client and the end users.
Architectural Graduate Claire Simpson graduated from the University of Auckland with a BArch (Hons) degree in 2009. Her experience is largely centred on residential projects, from concept to developed design and documentation. Claire has a strong interest in creating well-designed mixed-housing developments.
