Christchurch-based Corbel Construction is celebrating the opening of its just-completed post-quake headquarters at 213 Lichfield St today. The building comprises two stories of office space of 600sm2, with a 500m2 warehouse for Corbel’s joinery factory to the rear of the site of and 16 car parks.
It was built by Corbel Construction.

“The perforated façade panels depict the original Christchurch City Plan from 1874, then blend out to an abstract interpretation of the braided rivers that flow through the Canterbury Plains and forests.
“The palette of materials selected for the project focuses on natural materials intended to also reflect the Canterbury plains and forests.
“This includes precast concrete panels with board markings, external cedar cladding, internal American White Oak and perforated aluminium panels over an iron sand painted Titan board rain-screen,” the company says.
Corbel employs 85 fulltime permanent staff in construction services, and is owned and operated by its founders Craig Jones and Mark Wells.
The company says it has averaged 40% growth a year over the past six years, with targeted annual revenue of $50 million for this financial year.
