A new home build and a renovation in Hamilton are this year’s top Waikato homes.
Stewart Hanna Ltd scooped six regional awards, including the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the House of the Year and the Carters New Homes $1 million to $2 million category for a home in Hamilton.
The company also received the Craftsmanship Award, the Outdoor Living Award, the Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award and the Carpet Mill Interior Style and Finish Award.
Glenn Diffey Builders Ltd was awarded the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the Renovation of the Year, as well as the Renovation Award up to $250,000, for a home in Hamilton.
Stewart Hanna Ltd’s build impressed judges, who said it is a fantastic example of the client, builder and architect working together to seamlessly create a home to be desired.
“Built on a north-facing site and overlooking a large reserve, the team has cleverly used Hinuera stone and cedar vertical boarding on both the interior and exterior of this home to create a beautiful flow effect.
“Full of quirky features and rare intricacy, including a stunning feature wall that also functions as a bathroom door, this home is tastefully unusual. Built-in furniture is flawlessly detailed and outdoor living areas are immaculate – the execution of workmanship in this build is stunning.”
The judges said Glenn Diffey Builders Ltd’s renovation of a home built in the early 1900s is a magnificent example of the builder capturing and retaining the character of the original home.
“A high level of craftsmanship and a trusting relationship with the client that has been built up over many years has transformed this home into an elegant piece of paradise for the homeowners.”
Canterbury
A new home build in Merivale and a renovation in Sumner are this year’s top Canterbury homes.
Phil Benton Builders scooped four awards, including the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the House of the Year and the Westpac New Homes over $2 million category for a home in Merivale. The company also received the Heart of the Home Kitchen Award and the Outdoor Living Award.
Corbel Construction Ltd was awarded the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the Renovation of the Year, as well as the ITM Renovation Award $250,000 to $500,000, for a home in Sumner. The company also got a Gold Award in the Nulook New Homes $600,000 to $1 million category and the Resene Sustainable Home Award for a home in Fernside.
Phil Benton Builder’s new home build impressed judges, who said this home exhibits flawless execution of workmanship.
“The custom-made fittings and joinery are exceptional – beautifully detailed, crafted and finished. For such a large and difficult build, this is a real achievement.
“A home created for entertaining, the kitchen is the hub of the entertaining area and extensive outdoor living options cater to the lifestyle of the owner. An immaculately constructed concrete spine wall runs the length of the home, exposed both internally and externally, creating a sense of substance and permanence in the home.”
Judges said Corbel Construction Ltd’s Supreme Award-winning renovation is a beautifully composed building, boasting superb detailing, fantastic indoor/outdoor flow and efficient use of well-proportioned spaces.
Hawke’s Bay
A new home build in Havelock North is this year’s top East Coast region home.
Napier’s Homeworx Design & Build Limited scooped five regional awards, including the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the House of the Year and the PlaceMakers New Homes $250,000 to $350,000 category. The company also secured the Craftsmanship Award, the Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award and the Resene Sustainable Home Award.
The judges said" “This north-facing home absolutely brims with personality, taking full advantage of the Hawke’s Bay sun. Polished concrete floors generate an impressive marbling effect which doubles as a passive storage bank, and use of double glazing, solar heating panels and insulation generates a level of sustainability the builder can be proud of.
Manawatu
A new home build in Palmerston North is this year’s top Manawatu-Wanganui region home.
The Kelvin Grove property, built by Fowler Homes (Manawatu) Ltd, received the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the House of the Year, as well as the PlaceMakers New Homes $350,000 to $450,000 category, the Craftsmanship Award, and the Lighting Award.
Fowler Homes (Manawatu) Ltd was also awarded the James Hardie New Homes $450,000 to $600,000 category and the Heart of the Home Kitchen Award for a property in Kimbolton, plus a Gold Award in the PlaceMakers New Homes $350,000 to $450,000 category for a home in Hokowhitu.
Judges said they were impressed with Fowler Homes (Manawatu) Ltd’s Palmerston North build from the first moment they saw the immaculate exterior finish.
“Attention to detail and impeccable workmanship while working to an extremely tight budget made this home very special. Featuring a superb, fully-covered outdoor courtyard accessed through the family room, kitchen and master bedroom, this home is made for entertaining.”
