Allegations are swirling about former Blue Chip boss Mark Bryers and his alleged role in the collapse of an Australian group of companies, which owes “many, many millions.”

NBR court reporter Hamish McNicol has this week revealed Talos Accounting Group, which the High Court at Auckland heard Mr Bryers was running, contrary to New Zealand law, has gone into liquidation.

He says it now emerges at least $4 million has “disappeared” from two accounting companies acquired by Talos, which it has so far been unable to explain.

The Talos director who put the company into liquidation, Stephen Lacy, declines to comment, but Mr McNicol says the liquidator is investigating “allegations of impropriety.”

Earlier this week, “some complexities” arose in an ongoing employment dispute between Zespri and its jailed former employee Joseph Yu.

Mr McNicol says ongoing discovery tussles, which previously related to a laptop detained by China’s Anti-Smuggling Bureau, have now been extended to include two of Mr Yu’s USB devices, which are now also known to have been detained, but the Chinese authority is reluctant to give them up.

Finally, more details have emerged about the FMA’s latest action against a company called PTT Limited, its minority shareholder Steven Robertson, and other associated entities, relating to heavy freezing orders.

Mr McNicol says a court dispute has since resulted in the return of a $92,000 wedding ring to Mr Robertson’s wife.
