John Holdsworth, Executive Chairman of Datacom Group, has announced that the Datacom Group Board has asked Jonathan Ladd to step in as the chief executive of Datacom Group.

This appointment takes place immediately following the huge loss to the company with the recent sudden tragic death of 47-year-old group chief executive Michael Browne.

Directors felt it was important to quickly establish certainty for this position for staff and customers while the company is still coming to terms with Mr Browne's death, Datacom said in a statement.

"Mr Ladd has been a director of Datacom for four years and being based in Sydney has worked closely with Michael on many aspects of the company’s development. There will be no change in Datacom's direction and the company will continue with its growth plans as previously set by Michael and the board."

He has 33 years extensive experience in the IT business, including a 10 year period as CIO for P&O internationally.

John Holdsworth noted the directors were reassured to have a person with Jonathan's experience and detailed knowledge of Datacom to step into this position in these difficult circumstances for the company.

Privately held Datacom is New Zealand's largest locally-owned IT services company, with 1500 staff locally; 3000 employees in total and annual revenue of $667 million.
