Shareholders in DNZ Property Fund are warned to be cautious about an unsolicited offer to buy their shares for 60c per share.

The shares are not trading on a market, meaning there is no accurate price for investors to assess the offer against. In addition, DNZ Property Fund's prospectus gives the shares an indicative valuation of between 80c and $1.05 per share, the Securities Commission said.

It is not illegal to offer to buy securities below their face value, but any offer to buy must not be misleading or deceptive.

Shareholders are advised to seek professional advice before making any decision to accept.
