Apartment developer Paul Doole has started work on his latest project, The Antipodean apartment complex in Beach Rd in Auckland.
According to its marketing, the block will have 161 freehold apartments over 15 levels, and is modelled on the best London and New York have to offer.
The apartments range from studios to three bedrooms and prices range from $400,000 for a studio to $1 million plus for two bedrooms.
With the Antipodean, Doole is following a pattern of high-end and sought after apartment buildings including the Connaught, close to the Auckland High Court.
Doole has an extensive portfolio of other Auckland CBD properties, a mansion in Remuera and the former Blue Heron Lodge in Orapiu Bay, Waiheke Island.
At one stage, he also owned the historic St James Theatre, which he planned to turn into a 39-storey tower, including apartments. Despite gaining resource consent, the plans never went ahead and in 2014 he sold the property to Lijun Li and family.
2018: $65 million
