Homegrown womenswear retailer Kooky Fashions is shut by liquidators after 30 years in business.
Liquidators have closed the doors on homegrown womenswear retailer Kooky Fashions after 30 years in business.
Waterstone Insolvency said the 13 stores had traded profitably since the owners placed it into liquidation in June but it had been unable to find a buyer.
Thirty-six staff had lost their jobs after being employed on a casual basis since liquidation.
IRD had been paid $130,147 in full and GSA holder ANZ had been paid $250,000.
Kooky Fashions was set up in the early 1980s by Peter and Sylvia Aitchison and sold clothing in the 8-22 range.
It was placed into liquidation by Jason, Suzanne and Anthony Dunn, who bought the business in 2004.
Sales had been fluctuating in the difficult economic climate and took a significant hit when the earthquake closed the Christchurch store for an extended period.
