Building and construction minister Maurice Williamson is looking for a chairman for the Building Practitioners Board.
He plans to pay $550 a day, a figure set by the Cabinet Fees Framework.
According to a job ad on the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment website (http://www.dbh.govt.nz/bpb-appointment) the minister wants a chairman who has:
• Strong governance and leadership skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of the public sector.
• Commitment and integrity.
• Strong communication skills.
• A sound appreciation of the duties and responsibilities associated with a statutory position.
Under the Building Act 2004, the board’s role is to approve rules relating to licensed building practitioners, exercise disciplinary powers and hear appeals against decisions of the registrar.
