Is Private Bin too cynical?
Could it be that the 13 companies that provided their interim and annual reports to the New Zealand stock exchange this morning be hiding Easter eggs among the pages?
Private Bin would never assume that companies such as New Image, Port of Tauranga, Rubicon and Hellaby Holdings had anything to hide by putting their results up at a time when many people are thinking about how they are going to pack up the car, but it would be a good time to slip something through.
While the financial results contained in the reports have all been unveiled, the devil is always in the detail and reports can be a good time to drill down into the numbers.
It may be that Easter is just a good chunky deadline for getting this stuff out and it might be harder to conceal anything in the age of the internet.
Any investor with a laptop and the desire to step away from the stress of the long chocolate-munching holiday weekend could be tempted to jump online and see how their company is really doing.
Who needs a holiday anyway?
Remember, turn your clocks back one hour on Sunday morning. Oh, and Private Bin says change your smoke alarm battery.
