Business confidence falls, weak June quarter expected: ANZ

Two surveys out today paint a bleak picture for the economy, while OCR cuts could be brought forward.

New Zealand's economy expanded slightly in the March quarter.

Business confidence has continued to fall, which points to an economic contraction in the June quarter, according to ANZ.

The bank’s business confidence survey fell five points to +6 in June. Expected ‘own activity’ was unchanged, while pricing intentions fell seven points to 35.
