A lack of gas supplies could force a shut-down of the Ballance Agri-Nutrients urea plant at Kapuni, which produces about a third of the urea used in New Zealand’s fertiliser.
The co-op’s current 7PJ-a-year gas contract with privately owned Greymouth Gas ends on September 30.
