Manapouri transformers need replacement, says Meridian
Electricity generator says it is "in discussions" with Australian supplier WTC.
The Fiordland location of Manapouri power station requires transformers to be shipped to Deep Cove for trucking to the site.
Electricity generator Meridian has signalled major problems with transformers at its 800MW Manapouri hydro station, with seven supplied by Australian company WTC in the last 10 years requiring replacement.
In a statement to the NZX, Meridian said two of the WTC transformers had already been removed
