Smelter in talks with Contact for restart of fourth potline

Contact Energy is in talks with Tiwai Point smelter owner Rio Tinto for a power supply deal allowing the restart of potline 4 in 2030.

Potline 4 has been closed since 2020, when it was shut down as part of the smelter’s management of Covid-19.
