Deloitte has appointed two partners to its national audit team: Dunedin-based Mike Hawken and Dave Shadwell in Wellington. Both Mr Hawken and Mr Shadwell have expertise in financial services and insurance. Mr Hawken has spent most of his career since 1997 working in Deloitte’s Dunedin office, apart from a four-year period in the UK. Mr Shadwell has only been with Deloitte New Zealand for a year, having joined the firm from the UK. Before emigrating to New Zealand he was an audit partner at a competitor firm for five years leading its local financial services, insurance and public sector team. Since arriving in New Zealand, he has worked with clients in the financial services sector, along with a secondment to the Financial Markets Authority.
The Building Intelligence Group has appointed Dave Ebbettproject manager, leading the establishment of a Tauranga project management office. Mr Ebbett has project management experience within the Tauranga region, including landmark projects.
Wellington company director John Spencer has been appointed to the board of Raukawa Iwi Development, the commercial arm of South Waikato-based iwi Raukawa. Mr Spencer is chairman of Kiwi Rail and WEL Networks. He is chairman of Tainui Group Holdings, a role he steps down from this month. He is a director of Tower, Dairy NZ and Dispute Resolution Services. He is also the audit committee chairman of Tower and Dairy NZ. Raukawa Iwi Development manages an asset base of almost $50 million.
BNZ has appointed Brandon Jackson as senior partner – Auckland city corporate business. Mr Jackson joins BNZ from ANZ National, where he worked for six years. He will lead a team of 16 that manages key portfolios of city-based corporate and private bankers. Previously, Mr Jackson was a professional rugby player and coach. Having played for Auckland, Northland and New Zealand representative teams, he played and coached in Japan for 10 years and is currently coaching the Auckland Colts.
Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand has appointed three staff in Auckland. Richard Frogley has been appointed as an investment analyst. Previously, he was an investment strategist for the NZ Superannuation Fund for five years, spent time as an investment strategist with AMP Capital Investors and, most recently, was an economics tutor for the University of Auckland. He has a masters of commerce and administration from Victoria University and holds the chartered financial analyst designation from the CFA Institute. Laurence Fitzpatrick has been appointed business manager and chief operating officer. Mr Fitzpatrick was previously with NZTE as a senior investment manager and, before that, spent time with Craigs Investment Partners and NZ Funds Management. In addition, he worked for Man Investments AG in Switzerland for 10 years as a senior manager in product structuring and finance. Mr Fitzpatrick has a LLB/ Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury. Nick Fitness has been appointed as an associate adviser. Mr Fitness was previously with Morgan Stanley in London, where he was manager of EMEA fixed income trading fees and also spent time with Deloitte & Touché in London as an endowment analyst. Mr Fitness has a bachelor of business from Auckland University of Technology.
Pivot3, a provider of unified storage and computing appliances, has appointed Cal Andersonregional sales manager. Mr Anderson has more than 20 years of executive sales leadership. Previously he served as the chief executive of Wirelessworx, a provider of hosted solutions for mobile computing and value added communication services. Earlier, Mr Anderson was country manager and vice-president for Symbol Technologies.
Accountancy practice Hayes Knight has appointed business improvement specialist Mike Atkinsonas an associate. Mr Atkinson has also been recently appointed to the board of the Bruce Mason Centre. Business advisory specialist Brendon Cutlerhas also been appointed as an associate. He has a background in strategic planning, corporate governance, financial modelling, cashflow forecasting, funding applications, financial management and due diligence.
Two new directors will join the BCC, a Palmerston North based commercialisation centre that specialises in taking technology ideas to market. The owner of the BCC, The Bio Commerce Centre Trust, has appointed Massey University vice chancellor Steve Maharey and company director Vicki Stewart as directors. Mr Maharey, a sociologist, is a former city councillor, MP and senior cabinet minister. He is a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Ms Stewart has held leadership, governance and management roles within the Stewart group of companies. She is the immediate past chairwoman of Powerbase, a consortium of New Zealand businesses with 110 branches nationwide. They replace Peter Benfelland Ian Warrington, who recently retired as directors.
Pitney Bowes NZ has appointed Misti Landtroop country general manager, replacing James Murphy, who has been promoted to managing director of Pitney Bowes’ Australian division. Ms Landtroop was previously with Microsoft, where she was most recently director small, midmarket solutions and partners. With more than 15 years spent in the US and local IT industries, she has experience in sales, partner and people management, business operations and marketing. Before joining Microsoft, Ms Landtroop spent time in the advertising and public relations fields. She has a BA in journalism from Texas A&M University.
A key figure in New Zealand’s 2011 Rugby World Cup has been appointed head of New Zealand for the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2015. Therese Walsh was chief operating officer for last year’s Rugby World Cup. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Ms Walsh was previously chief financial officer and general manager corporate services for the New Zealand Rugby. She has been a director of New Zealand Cricket since 2011.
