Massey University has appointed Professor Claire Massey as its new director of agri-food business. Professor Massey has been at the university since 1993 and head of the School of Management since 2006. She is also a professor of enterprise development and was the founding director of the University’s Centre for Small and Medium Enterprise Research. She is a great-granddaughter of William Ferguson Massey, the former prime minister after whom the university is named.
Professor Robert Anderson has been appointed Massey University deputy vice-chancellor. He replaces Professor Sir Mason Durie, who retired last month. Professor Anderson will remain College of Sciences pro vice-chancellor. He is an elected fellow of the NZ Institute of Agricultural Science. He was awarded the 2000 Thomson Medal by the Royal Society.
Frog Recruitment has appointed Glenn Bratton manager of the IT recruitment division. An industry veteran of over 20 years, Mr Bratton was previously in a general management position at a major IT recruitment firm. He has also held management positions within international and local recruitment firms as well as maintaining an active consulting role.
Jade Software Corporation has appointed Craig Beveridge director of development services across the Jade Group. He was previously Jade development manager based in Melbourne. Mr Beveridge has 25 years’ experience working in the IT industry specialising in information systems development. He co-founded an IT consulting firm in Sydney and has held a variety of senior technical and management roles.
Sheryn Cook has joined Tompkins Wake as business development manager. Ms Cook has an extensive commercial background in the domestic and international food industry and has experience in both large corporates and start ups.
Buddle Findlay has promoted two new senior associates, both in the Wellington office. Matthew Farrington and Lara Wood are members of the corporate and commercial and banking and finance teams.
Selina Deadman has been appointed national sales manager for DHL Express in New Zealand. Ms Deadman began her career with DHL 18 years ago in New Zealand. She has since worked with various commercial capacities throughout the DHL global network. For the past seven years she has been based in the US as senior director, global financial and professional services Americas. Previously, Ms Deadman was based in Singapore as manager of global and multinational customers, Asia Pacific.
Scenic Hotel Group has appointed Adrian Clifton executive assistant manager of Scenic Hotel Southern Cross in Dunedin. Mr Clifton has experience in hotel management in New Zealand and the UK. Scenic has also appointed Jessica Skinner corporate account manager. Ms Skinner has worked for the company in a sales support role for two and a half years.
DLA Phillips Fox has appointed Sonya Carter to its Auckland property team as a solicitor. Brad Cuff has been appointed as a senior associate in the Wellington insurance team and Jane Traynor has been appointed as a solicitor in the litigation team. Law clerk Charlotte Bradshaw and senior solicitor Nick Molineaux have been appointed to the managed funds team.
Jens Hansen Gold and Silversmith in Nelson has appointed a new jeweller. Zane Colgate has more than a decade of experience working with precious metals and stones. He is a diamond setter and platinum smith and Computer-Aided 3D designer.
The New Zealand Drug Detection Agency has appointed Chris Hilson chief executive. He replaces Kirk Hardy, who is now global chief executive for IDDA (the international side of the business). Mr Hilson was previously national sales manager for Wattyl/Valspar NZ. Previously he was national sales and operations (trade) manager and was promoted from general manager of Mitre 10 Mega in Tauranga.
Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed Mark Grant national director of commercial leasing. Mr Grant has over 25 years of international experience in real estate and professional services. He has worked in senior leadership and consulting roles in New Zealand for Bayleys Realty Group, Jones Lang LaSalle in the UK and AB Group in Saudi Arabia. He also has a long-term relationship with Business Mentors New Zealand providing expert advice to small and incubator business owners.
JOOB, a Jade Software Corporation business, has appointed Ben Hanna vice-president. He joined JOOB over 12 months ago. He has had 10 years of solution, design and technical sales experience, including a six-year stint at Gen-i.
Foreign exchange, interest rate and treasury management advisory house, Asia-Pacific Risk Management has appointed Chris Hedley associate director. Mr Hedley joined the company in November 2003 as an analyst.
Global real estate services firm Jones Lang La Salle has promoted eight of its New Zealand staff. New Zealand managing director Nick Hargreaves has been made a regional director. Mr Hargreaves joined JLL as a valuer in London in 1987 and, since 1989, has held senior positions in the New Zealand office from property and asset management to valuations. Julie Cottle has been promoted from associate director to local director for transaction management. Ms Cottle joined JLL eight years ago in London. Dale Winfieldhas been promoted from associate director to local director for valuation. He is also Auckland valuation manager. Mr Winfield has over 12 years’ experience as a property adviser and registered valuer in Dunedin, London and Auckland. Lance Collings has been promoted from associate director to local director for valuation. Mr Collings joined the firm in 2010 and is based in Christchurch. He has over 25 years’ experience as a property professional and registered valuer.Sam Smithhas been promoted from associate director to local director for industrial. For the past five years he has headed up the Jones Lang LaSalle Industrial team. Chris Beasleigh has been promoted from manager to associate director for retail managing the national retail sales and leasing team. Mr Beasleigh has over 18 years’ experience across the NZ and UK markets including five years as a commercial and residential developer. Alistair Penny has been promoted from manager to associate director for retail property management. Mr Penny heads up the retail management division. He has over 10 years postgraduate property experience. Regan Simpson has been promoted from manager to associate director for property management. Mr Simpson heads up the property and asset management teams across the country. He has over 14 years’ experience of the property and facilities management industry here and in the UK. John Hutchings has been promoted to manager. A facility manager on the IFM account since 2008, he is the engineering lead for the IBM portfolio in New Zealand. He has been in the facilities management industry for over six years.
Sentia Media, formerly the Media Monitors group, has appointed David Schnellenberg New Zealand general manager. Mr Schnellenberg has held senior marketing communication positions in public and private sectors for the past 20 years. Most recently he was the external communications manager for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was also a brand and communications manager for Meridian Energy. From 2000-07 he was general manager for Maxim Group.
Angela Neighbours, a director of Australasian exec-
utive coaching company Ilume International has been appointed to the faculty of the London-based Global Master Coach Academy. Ms Neighbours is one of 30 global coach trainers of the International Coaching Community and is one of 10 global trainers who teach the master coach qualification.
YMCA Auckland has appointed business coach and communicator Eugene Moreau as its membership sales manager. Mr Moreau has had over 22 years’ experience in working with executive level management. He is a certified master coach and has written three books.
Design agency Studio Alexander has appointed David Hebblethwaite general manager. Mr Hebblethwaite was artistic director at the Auckland War Memorial Museum and most recently led the master plan for the redevelopment of Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum. He also consults to the Powerhouse Museum (Sydney) and other museums. He trained as an architect in the UK and before to coming to New Zealand and was creative director and project director of Europe’s leading specialist exhibition design consultancy. He worked on projects throughout Europe, the Middle East and North America and led multiple complex design projects.
New appointments have been made to the boards of Genesis and Meridian and reappointments to the boards of Solid Energy and Mighty River Power. They are: Genesis – Alison Andrew (Orica Chemicals NZ general Manager), Andrew Clements (private equity specialist), John Leuchars (KiwiRail director and civil engineer); Meridian– Mark Cairns (Port of Tauranga chief executive) and Sally Farrier (Australia-based electricity, gas and water industry specialist). Mr Ryall reappointed Trevor Janes, Jon Hartley and Dr Michael Allen to the Mighty River board and Allan Broome to Solid Energy. Craig Climo was appointed to the board of Health Benefits.
Nicki Sare has been appointed manager at the International Antarctic Centre. Ms Sare was previously marketing manager commercial at Christchurch Airport.She has more than 14 years’ industry experience in sales and marketing management roles within accommodation, transport, attractions, wholesale/retail gifts. Those roles include more than eight years as national sales and marketing manager for Thrifty Car Rental New Zealand.
