MSN boss Liz Fraser jumps to MediaWorks. Forsyth Barr names new head of research; more.

Liz Fraser has joined MediaWorks TV as director of sales and marketing. Ms Fraser was formerly general manager of MSN.co.nz, and chairwoman of the IAB, which tracks internet advertising trends. General Manager.  She has also worked extensively in the television industry.

The newly created role brings together MediaWorks TV’s sales and marketing departments for the first time, MediaWorks says. Ms Fraser will oversee all sales and marketing functions for TV3, Four, TV3 +1 and C4.  Current roles remain unchanged.

CEO for Television, Paul Maher says: "“Having learned the intricacies of digital media over the last five years, plus 14 years of television experience, I feel extremely confident to support the MediaWorks TV team to shift the dial upwards and gain enormous momentum to win.”

Before her time at MSN, Ms Fraser spent 14 years at TVNZ in a variety of sales, marketing and programming roles.

Forsyth Barr has appointed Andy Bowley head of research. Mr Bowley was previously with Citigroup Australia as director/senior equity analyst. He has covered a wide range of sectors. He also worked for Credit Suisse in London and South Africa. Rob Mercer has been appointed head of private wealth research. He was previously head of research. Gordon Noble-Campbell has been appointed director, private client services. He was previously general manager of Spicers Portfolio Management and a member of AMP New Zealand’s executive leadership team. Mr Noble-Campbell is a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, a former board member of the Investment Funds Association and former Wellington branch chair of the Institute of Financial Advisers. He is a director of Hurricanes Ltd. Adrian Vance has been appointed senior investment adviser in the Christchurch branch. Mr Vance has been a shareholder and director of Hamilton Hindin Greene in Christchurch for many years.

Willis NZ has appointed Scott Nolan as an account broker in its Auckland office. He has five years’ insurance experience in customer service, client renewal and sales development. Clive Berry has been appointed as a business development manager in the Wellington office. Mr Berry has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry. For the past 25 years he has worked with corporate clients in both the public and private sector. David Burroughs has been appointed as account manager within its financial and executive risk team in Auckland.

Marise Allan and Patrick Casey have been made partners of Malloy Goodwin Harford in Auckland. Ms Allan has been with the firm for a number of years, practising principally in the property area. Mr Casey joined the firm in 2010 and practices in the corporate and commercial areas and in intellectual property.

Glen Sowry has been appointed chief executive of Housing NZ. Mr Sowry is Air New Zealand’s general manager operations. He succeeds Lesley McTurk.

Robert Bok, the executive pastry chef for Sky City Hotel Casino is to join WelTec’s School of Hospitality. Mr Bok has been with Sky City since 1999 where he managed pasty and bakery production with a team of 20 pastry chefs. Mr Bok will be patisserie tutor at WelTec’s new Cuba St campus. Mr Bok’s career includes positions at large international hotels in Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.

Stephen Corlett has been promoted to partner at Brookfields Lawyers. Mr Corlett specialises in litigation, dispute resolution, insurance and employment law in the Auckland office. Lawyer Andrew Fawcett has joined the firm in Auckland as special counsel. Mr Fawcett is a commercial law specialist with a strong focus on the telecommunications and technology sector. Daniel Beker has joined the Wellington office as a senior associate. He has considerable experience providing commercial and property law advice and is on the board of the Porirua Chamber of Commerce.

BDO NZ has appointed Lesley Trench market development manager. Most recently national marketing manager for Lexis Nexis NZ, she is a graduate of Aston University in the UK and spent more than 10 years working in managerial marketing roles in technology, education and advertising before coming New Zealand in 2010.

Mount Maunganui-based Dominion Salt has appointed Shane Dufaur chief executive. Mr Dufaur has a first class honours degree in engineering. He spent 13 years working for Schlumberger Oilfield Services and rose to general manager of the Kuwaiti operation. Since returning to New Zealand in 2004, he has been a vice-president of car navigation at Navman, chief executive at Mastip Technologies and owned his own materials handling business in Tauranga.
