New in the job at Telecom, 2degrees, Apec, ANZ National and more.

Sam McIvor has been appointed inaugural chief executive of Preston Corp. He will be responsible for all of the subsidiary companies owned by Preston Corp, which are involved in meat wholesaling, retailing and freight. Mr McIvor was formerly chief executive of New Zealand Pork and a director of Retail MeatNZ, the Feed Manufacturers Association and Pork Cooperative Research Centre (Australia).

Wayne Boyd has been appointed to the Apec Business Advisory Council (Abac) for three years. Mr Boyd is a professional director with extensive merchant banking and legal experience. He chairs a number of boards and is the former chairman of Telecom. The Apec Business Advisory Council is a network of business representatives from each of the 21 Apec economies, which meets to develop business perspectives on issues being discussed among Apec economies.

Crighton Anderson Property & Infrastructure has appointed John Dunckley director of valuation and advisory. Mr Dunckley has been a valuer for more than 35 years. He has been a member of the NZ Institute of Valuers (now PINZ) for over 30 years. He has been national president), chairman of the Valuation and Property Standards Board, New Zealand representative on the International Valuation Standards Committee and chairman of the International Valuation Standards Board.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has appointed Scott Mitchell as a consulting partner in the firm’s Auckland office. He was previously the Sydney managing partner at Litmus Group and before that, the chief operating officer of Jones Lang LaSalle in Australia. Mr Mitchell has held several senior roles in the professional services industry, including PwC Consulting UK. He has over 20 years of commercial experience.

Environmental law specialists Sue Simons and Simon Berry have launched a new law firm, Berry-Simons. Both have more than 25 years’ experience in environ-mental law and experience as partners in traditional, larger law firms. They are joined by an experienced team of specialist environmental lawyers.

ANZ National chief executive chairman David Hisco has been elected chairman of the New Zealand Bankers’ Association for 2012/13. Westpac New Zealand chief executive Peter Clarehas been elected deputy chairman.

Civil construction and siteworks contracting company Calcon has appointed Nicholas Tyler managing director. He takes over from founder Stewart Callaway, who remains a shareholder and chairman of the board. Financial controller Jackie Cramptonwill become executive director, whilePhilip Crossland will become operations manager andMartin Russellwill becomes estimating manager.

Bank of New Zealand has appointed Mark Watts as head of corporate affairs. Mr Watts is Telecom’s head of corporate relations. His previous roles have included media relations manager for Westpac NZ and press secretary Helen Clark as well as a communications role with the Reserve Bank.

A new centre manager, Simon Carter, has been appointed at The Palms Shopping Centre in Christ-church.

2degrees has appointed Malcolm Phillipps chief marketing officer. He has been the head of acquisition and communications for 2degrees, spearheading the company’s brand and marketing communications since 2009. He has over 15 years of marketing, market research and marketing communications experience from roles in the telecommunications, consumer products, automotive, and energy services industries.
