Facebook boss posts pic to celebrate 500 millionth Instagrammer — but all eyes are on a bit of tape

This morning NZT, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg osted a photo to celebrate that Instagram (bought for $US1 billion in 2012) now has 500 million members, 300 million of whom use the photo-sharing app every day.*
However, the social media mob was quick to point out another element of the pic: the laptop sitting in front of the Facebook founder has a piece of masking tape over its web cam.
It's a worry that at tech guru like Zuck is so paranoid about privacy.
There are a number of apps that promise to protect you against a hacker, pervert or security agency taking control of your computer's web cam or mic but, as the Facebook CEO shows, sometimes low-tech is best.
*That's despite Facebook intentionally breaking what NBR considered Instagram's best feature - its support for Twitter Cards so photos could be directly viewed on Facebook rival Twitter
