Federated Farmers is being a little hopeful in its quest to attract a bunch of US senators to its conference in Invercargill in June.

The organisation’s president, Don Nicolson, seems to be attempting to capitalise on his business card, perhaps attempting to fool the 30 senators who are a little wary about Trans Pacific Partnership trade negotiations into thinking they’ve got an invitiation to the world’s most southern city from their own commander in chief.

Farmer in Chief, President Don, reckons if a few of the US senators come down here on a fact finding mission they won’t be as scared of the might of dairy giant Fonterra getting access to their market as they seem to be now.

Private Bin reckons the Feds would have more chance encouraging the US lawmakers to Invercargill if they delayed the conference until after local body elections in October to see if former country music star Suzanne Prentice pinches the mayoral job from Tim Shadbolt … and offered them a ride on the world’s fastest Indian.

Just to drive it home, the Don signs the letter: Don Nicolson, PRESIDENT.
