The final appointees to polytech councils were named yesterday.

Last week the Government has announced 78 appointees to 20 polytech councils.

The councils were reduced in size by a law change last year -- from between 12 and 20 members down to eight, with four appointed by the tertiary education minister.

Today, Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce said Whitireia Polytechnic deputy chairwoman and PricewaterhouseCoopers partner Suzanne Snively was the final ministerial appointment to the councils of the Wellington Institute of Technology and Whitireia Community Polytechnic.

All ministerial appointments have now been finalised.

Mr Joyce said a number of cross-appointments were made on geographically related councils.
