Airline Pacific Blue's inaugural flight from Auckland to Cairns is due to take off at 4pm today.
The Tuesday and Saturday flights represented a 79 percent increase in seats available on the Auckland to Cairns route, the airline said today.
Pacific Blue chief executive Mark Pitt said the new service had attracted solid loads into the middle of the year.
The company would now have 16 flights a week to Queensland from Auckland.
