Fletcher Building has appointed Australian Tim Richards as chief executive of its building products division.
Mr Richards replaces Chris Ellis, who resigned in July to take the top job at the Brightwater Group.
Mr Richards has been with Fletcher Building since 2005 and is currently general manager of Stramit, part of Fletcher’s Australian steel division.
His previous roles include four years as a commercial manager at Boral, three as a commercial analyst at international service company Serco and two as a senior accountant at KPMG.
“Tim has driven considerable growth in the Stramit business through strong leadership, an ability to develop and deliver a strategic growth plan, a focus on creating strong channels to market and completing growth acquisitions,” Fletcher Building said in a statement.
Mr Richards will take up his new role at the beginning of next year and will relocate to Auckland from Sydney.
Fletcher Building is also looking to replace Mark Binns, who heads up the infrastructure division but is leaving at the end of this year to become chief executive of Meridian Energy. Fletcher is splitting that role into two - construction and concrete.
Fletcher Building shares are currently trading up 15c, or 2.3% at $6.76.
