Aura Information Security announces it has appointed Frans Lategan as principal consultant in Aura’s Auckland office.
With a PhD in computer science, a master’s degree in mathematics and more than 22 years’ experience in the cybersecurity industry, Mr Lategan brings with him a wealth of experience in both offensive and defensive security.
His key areas of expertise are penetration testing, security consulting, cryptography and source code review. Mr Lategan has assessed systems ranging from small mobile applications to wifi networks and large corporate networks to ATM security, as well as multiple web applications. He has a passion for all areas of cybersecurity.
Prior to joining Aura, Mr Lategan held senior positions at Amazon Web Services, Barclays Africa Group Limited, and more recently, SensePost, a leading ethical hacking firm in South Africa.
Aura Information Security general manager Peter Bailey says Mr Lategan offers a goldmine of experience and is a welcome asset to the team.
“Frans’ knowledge in cyber security is second to none. His experience cuts right across the spectrum with stints at a large consulting firm, a large commercial bank, a boutique security firm and a very large cloud provider. This background not only enables him to fully appreciate the complexities faced by large organisations, but also recommend appropriate solutions.
“Our team is incredibly excited to have someone of Frans’ calibre on board and we look forward to working alongside him as we continue to drive our business forward,” says Mr Bailey.
Mr Lategan joins the team from South Africa and will be based out of the company’s central Auckland offices.
