Brian Galt and his son Dean own an extensive property portfolio anchored by a large Pak‘nSave supermarket in Wellington’s Kilbirnie.
The Galts, originally from Invercargill, also own Maritime Tower on Customhouse Quay, the former CallActive House in Willeston St, AC Nielsen Building in Victoria St as well as other commercial offices.
In 2017 they bought a 14,414sq m property on Tory St for $56 million.
One of the family’s early investments in Wellington was the New World supermarket in Miramar, now sold, and later the New World supermarket in Kilbirnie before turning it into the Pak‘nSave store, which opened in October 1999 and was extended in 2006. Dean Galt remains the owner-operator of the store.
Brian is also a founding trustee of the Eastern Suburbs Sports Trust, which is dedicated to participation and expertise in all forms of amateur sport.
