A $33 million farm at Dipton is the latest acquisition for international investor, Aquila AgrarINVEST Investitions GmbH.

The German-based investment fund has acquired more than eight farms, mostly in Southland, over the past two years. A recent purchase was mid-Canterbury processor Synlait’s sale of the Mead Farm which sold for a then record price of $17.3 million. The company acquires either established dairy farms or properties that can be converted.

The latest deal involves the acquisition of rights or interests in up to 100% of the units of Glencairn Limited Partnership which owns or controls a freehold interest in 1401ha at 141 Glencairn Rd, Dipton

The land is currently two dairy farms that Aquila plans to convert into three units and increase milking capacity.

The vendor was Glencairn Land Company which has four shareholders.
