Australian appliance retailer The Good Guys is opening its second store in New Zealand at Botany Downs in South Auckland on July 15.
Its first store opened in Wairau Park in Auckland in May. A third store in Manukau in Auckland will open on September 29.
The company, which was founded in 1952, has 92 stores in Australia. To mark its expansion it released research showing that 34 percent of New Zealand shoppers are bargain hunters. On that basis it argued 66 percent of New Zealanders are paying more than they have to for appliances.
The retail chain runs a joint venture partner model where a local "Good Guy" owns and runs the store.
Fisher&Paykel Appliances are stocked alongside competitor brands. Fisher&Paykel Appliances said in May that it would give up exclusive dealer arrangements with New Zealand retailers from July 1. The distribution arrangement had lasted for 50 years.
