Google engineering director Dr Craig Nevill-Manning is among the speakers confirmed for Christchurch’s business technology event of the year – the annual Canterbury Software Summit on September 8 at Addington Raceway.
For the first time the event is free thanks to the generosity of sponsors JOOB, Clarus, NZTE and IBM, and NZICT. More than 300 people are expected to attend.
The sponsors are including the event as the first in the series of forums supported by Rutherford Innovation Showcase and scheduled for the main centres in coming weeks.
Among the technology entrepreneurs and prominent speakers are Andrew Lark, chief marketing officer at Commonwealth Bank of Australia and former Dell Enterprise chief marketing officer; David Scott, head of business technology and transformation for Z Energy; Scott Bradley, chief executive and founder of VoucherMob; Sam Gribben, general manager of Serato; Tyrone McAuley, technical director, co-founder of Sidhe; Steve Orenstein, founder of Connect2Field; and Dave Fellows, chief technical officer at GreenButton.
The summit will also include business and technical breakout forums.
A highlight of the summit will feature displays on research capabilities, projects and innovations from campuses around the country. The University Commercialisation Offices of New Zealand will host the evening programme.

This is a conference of passionate architects, real developers, authentic marketers and business owners out to share their ideas for making better software,” according to Craig Richardson, managing director of sponsor JOOB.
The summit is being hosted by the Canterbury Software Cluster (Canterbury Software Inc.) a non-profit professional association with 200 members dedicated to advancing software innovation, commercialisation and export.
