Cameron Gregory was one of three owners who banked a total of $366 million when they sold Metropolitan Glass in 2006.
The sale reportedly gave Gregory a windfall of $116 million. However, now the NZX-listed company has halved in value in the last year, with a market capitalisation of just under $80 million.
After floating its shares at $1.70 in 2014, Metro Performance Glass shares are now only worth 38c.
Gregory is understood to be a perpetual holidaymaker though he still has some interests in New Zealand as a director and shareholder in a handful of companies, including Ortem Investments and Tempaland Nominees, which own commercial and industrial properties worth $39m.
He also has a 15% holding in Viaduct Port Ltd, an investment company which has fellow Rich Listers Brendan Lindsay and Michael Reid as shareholders.
