Hansells Food Group will officially open its state-of-the-art innovation centre and bakery line in Auckland on Friday.

The new $18 million complex comprises 4000sq m of warehousing and a blast freezer, a 5000sq m food processing factory and a 1000sq m office and innovation centre.

Hansells chief executive officer John McKay says annual turnover is close to $160 million and the product portfolio contains more than 600 lines from baking ingredients through to spreads and drinks.

“It makes the number one steamed pudding in the UK and globally has the top selling rice bran oil as well as household brands such Alfa One, Aunt Betty’s, Hansells and Vitafresh,” he says.

Further expansion into offshore markets and innovation will be the key growth drivers in the future, he adds.
