Hayes replaces Barry at 6pm

Paul Henry slot yet to be filled.

Sun, 29 May 2016

Late-night news host Samantha Hayes will replace Hilary Barry on TV3's 6pm "Newshub" bulletin, MediaWorks says.

The broadcaster has yet to say who will fill Ms Barry's second role, reading news on Paul Henry's breakfast show.

Ms Barry announced her surprise resignation on April 29, and has yet to reveal her next move.

Pundits reckoned her dissatisfaction at seeing colleagues like John Campbell and the 3D investigative team sacked contributed to her decision, but Ms Barry has not given publicly given any reason beyond wanting to spend more time with her family.

MediaWorks chief executive Mark Weldon quit just days later. The ex-NZX boss was under pressure on several fronts, including startup GeoOp (where he recently resigned as chairman) and the Ralec case.
