High-tech buzz, speakers galore for computer summit
The Canterbury Software Summit is lining up its keynote speakers after attracting 500 people last year.
Nanotechnology, robotics, biotechnology, geospatial systems and computer vision are among topics to be presented at a Canterbury Software Summit.
Last year’s summit was the cluster’s most successful, attracting nearly 500 people.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from Vend, Carnival Labs, Xero, Orion Health, PayGlobal, Tait Communications, NZVIF, Security Assessments and AdScale
In response to requests for more specialised technical content, the Business and Technology streams will this year be joined by a new “Agile stream” featuring speaker presentations on Scrum software development process implementations at Tait Radio Communications and AdScale.
Cluster committee chairman Ben Reid says the profile of the 2011 event made it easier to get top-quality speakers to come to Christchurch this year.
The event will be held on October 4 at Addington Events Centre and the theme “from Startup to Global” will include the stories of many successful and aspiring technology leaders, including Jonty Kelt, chief executive and co-founder of Group Commerce. He will deliver the keynote address.
Registration is free for Canterbury Software and UCONZ members, and $95 for non-members. Alternatively, non-members can join the Canterbury Software cluster for $86.25 for one year’s membership and get free entry to the summit.
Since 2002 the annual summit has been organised by a voluntary committee.
The half-day conference and networking event has become popular among technology entrepreneurs, developers and IT professionals.
