Holmes Consulting Group has appointed Joe White, formerly of its Wellington office, to head up its new entity in the Netherlands.
As an expert in seismic analysis, assessment and design, he has more than a decade of experience as a structural engineer, delivering projects throughout New Zealand, USA, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
Recently he was the Project Director on the detailed seismic assessment and analysis of Wellington’s Majestic Centre and the historic NZ Post building, focusing on effectively and cost efficiently strengthening the structures against earthquakes.
He will be joined in the Netherlands by Troy Hoogeveen, from Holmes’ Auckland office.
This is Holmes’ first foray into Europe and this new office will be a springboard into a much wider market including the United Kingdom. Holmes has been working in the Netherlands for over a year alongside the Royal Bam Group on seismic strengthening and retrofitting of buildings, mainly in the Groningen area, where there has been an increasing number and intensity of earthquakes as a result of large-scale gas extraction in the area.
