Hong Kong first to ratify major new world trade agreement

Its officials informed the WTO on Wednesday that the territory deposited its instrument of acceptance for the TFA Protocol with the Secretariat on December 8.

Hong Kong has become the first World Trade Organisation member to formally ratify the new Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), which promises to lower the cost of international business.

Though part of China, Hong Kong is recognised by the WTO as a separate economy.
