BUSINESSDESK: Solid Energy's Huntly East underground coal mine has resumed full operations after almost five days of partial closures and inspections following the discovery of elevated methane levels in a newly worked part of the mine.

The Department of Labour’s high hazards unit lifted a prohibition on coal extraction this afternoon.

"The Huntly East workforce has been operating underground continually and Solid Energy remains confident the mine is operating safely," the company said.

Stockpiled coal allowed customer orders to be fulfilled in the interim.
