Insurer IAG, which trades in New Zealand under a range of leading general insurance brands including NZI, Lumley, State, AMI and NAC, has announced that it has filled two key executive positions with internal appointments.

IAG's New Zealand Head of People Partnering Melissa Cantell has been appointed to the role of Executive General Manager Transformation.

In her new role, she will support IAG's strategy for creating customer value by helping to enhance the organisation's ability to operate efficiently and effectively. Chief Executive Officer for IAG in New Zealand, Craig Olsen, said: "While Melissa is relatively new to the insurance industry (after joining IAG in August last year), she has impressed with her broad set of skills and experience, including leading successful transformations within other consumer-focused industries."

Kevin Hughes has been appointed as the Executive General Manager of IAG's Consumer division which provides personal insurance through financial institution partnerships and IAG's State, AMI and NAC brands. Mr Hughes had been taking care of the Consumer division through the formal recruitment process since it was formed under a new structure announced in March.

He had previously been acting Executive General Manager of what was previously called IAG's Direct Insurance business. "This appointment is a reflection of Kevin's proven ability to enhance business performance along with the invaluable experience he can call on from strategic and senior roles within the banking sector prior to joining IAG," Mr Olsen said. The appointments are effective immediately.
