The Royal Tour hits Christchurch today with Prince William revisiting the earthquake-shattered city centre three years on.
He was last in the city just a month after the devastating February 2011 earthquake.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will walk among the public at Latimer Square and stop by the international award-winning “cardboard cathedral.”
They will also visit the CTV memorial park and meet some of the families of the 115 people who died in the CTV building collapse.
Cricket will be another theme with 28 young players in a game with legends Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley.
The royals will hear about the development of Hagley Oval, which will host three ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 matches.
From there, William and Kate will head to the Botanic Gardens where they will cut a floral rope, opening a new $20 million visitor centre, which has been designed to look like a giant glasshouse.
The royals will round out their South Island trip with a visit to Wigram Air Force Museum where they'll have lunch, hear more about Christchurch's redevelopment plans from business leaders and check out the Wall of Remembrance.
William and Kate will then jet back to Wellington for a family dinner with Prime Minister John Key, wife Bronagh and teenage son Max.
