Implications for goods and passengers when Aratere stops sailing
It is being taken out of service soon so new port infrastructure can be built for replacement ferries.
From late August the KiwiRail will have only two ferries sailing the Cook Strait.
The Aratere will stop sailing on the Cook Strait no later than August 30, ending more than 25 years’ service.
