More Kiwis take flight on overseas trips this year with international visitors to New Zealand also on the increase.
International arrivals were much higher in November compared to the same month a year earlier, Statistics NZ says.
Visitor arrivals (for the RUW final month) were up by more than 3,800 from a year earlier, lifting the total amount of international visitors in November this year to 230,300.
Significant changes in arrivals included Australia (up 6,400), China (up 3,700) and Malaysia (up 1,300), compared to reductions in visitors from Japan (down 2,500), Korea (down 1,600), the United States (down 1,300) and the United Kingdom (down 1,200).
Kiwis have also joined the international travel wagon, with overseas trips by New Zealand residents up 13,700 in November compared to the previous year, bringing the total for the year to November this year to 174,600. The most significant changes were in departures to Australia (up 4,600) and India (up 1,100).
With these figures in mind, seasonally adjusted figures for November 2011 showed a net loss of less than 100 migrants.
