InternetNZ has made two appointments to fill the gap left by policy director Jordan Carter, who announced his resignation April 26 after making Labour's list.
Susan Chalmers will be joining as Policy Lead and Reg Hammond will be providing consulting services.
Ms Chalmers is currently pursuing her Master of Laws at the University of Auckland. She holds degrees from two different US institutions - Loyola University Chicago School of Law and the University of Michigan. Susan was recently admitted to the Illinois State Bar.
Mr Hammond is currently Principal Analyst, Energy and Communications Branch, Ministry of Economic Development (MED) - the government agency that's often deeply embroiled in telecommunications manoeuvring, such as the recent controversy over the government's $300 million rural broadband initiative.
He has been with MED since 2000 and his previous roles include Manager, ICT Regulatory Policy Group and Manager, Industry Development and IT Policy Groups. Prior to MED, Reg has worked with the then Ministry of Commerce and State Services Commission.
InternetNZ acts as both wholesaler and administrator of .nz domain names, and end-user advocate - has strongly opposed several aspects of the government's ultrafast broadband (UFB) programme, especially provisions of the Telecommunications Amendment Bill, elements of which it sees as anti-competitive, and not in consumers' best interests.
