Karaka's premium yearling sales reach $58m as foreigners buy top lots

Local syndicator David Ellis was the biggest spender at $4.2 million for 26 yearlings.

Buyers at the two-day premier sale session of the six-day National Yearling Sales at Karaka pushed the total up 5% to $58.4 million, though the average price eased 2% to $172,803.

The clearance equalled last year’s figure of 78% with 338 horses sold.
