Landcorp and Wairakei Pastoral this afternoon confirmed a joint bid for the Crafar portfolio of farms.
Auckland property developers Ross Green, Mark Wyborn and Trevor Farmer are behind Wairakei Pastoral which already has a joint venture with Landcorp through the development and conversion of 25,000 hectares of former Fletcher Forests land near Taupo.
Mr Kelly told the National Business Review this afternoon a bid for the farms would be lodged before the 4pm deadline today.
NBR reported last month a joint venture with Wairakei was likely.
He said if the bid was successful, Landcorp would have two roles – one as part of the 50:50 asset owning company and another as manager of the farms, similar to the existing arrangement it already has with Wairakei.
In a statement today, Crafar farm receivers KordaMentha said a number of further tenders were expected before close off at 4pm today.
