Legal news site LawFuel has named Minter Ellison Rudd Watts' partner Stacey Shortall its "lawyer of the year, 2015."
Ms Shortall, who gained public profile defending Pike River Coal's directors and managers and finance companies facing FMA action over their failure, is already the recipient of a 'Women of Influence' award this year is a highly respected lawyer with Minter Ellison who has worked for a major Wall Street firm for 11 years but receives the LawFuel award largely because of her charitable activities assisting children and others from less advantaged sections of the community.
She has set up a program to help incarcerated mothers with children and another to help primary school-aged children in decile one schools with homework and to provide them with role models. She is also working on other programmes to help young children in the community.
Her charitable work began while working in the United States but has continued with her return to New Zealand in 2010.
